Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Writing and editing press releases and features for print and web
Speech writing – introductory remarks, community engagement
Writing for social media
Developing story ideas to support overall communications strategy
Gathering and organizing assets for feature stories
Proofreading – editorial and promotional copy
Competency in AP style
Maintaining media contact lists
Ability to imagine and craft verbal and written pitches to media
Conduct background research for writing projects
Work effectively and efficiently in Microsoft Office suite, employ Google services and project management tools and other software systems as introduced; be able to integrate into printing and production processes
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications and/or experience as a writer, preferably as part of a creative or news team
Working knowledge of social media outlets and blog writing/publication strategies and techniques
