UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and direction of the UW's IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT provides critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers, and research operations around the world.
The Enterprise Document Management program within UW-IT provides technical solutions and services to academic, business, and IT groups throughout the University. These solutions include Document Management, Workflow Management, Notifications, and eSignatures. These services support the University's business process modernization and automation efforts, and aid departments in complying with records retention policies.
The Enterprise Document Management team is currently seeking a Project Manager (Temporary) to assist in coordination of software development projects and customer engagement projects. In collaboration with the Program Manager, the Senior Engagement Manager, and other members of the Enterprise Document Management team, the Project Manager plays a critical role in project planning, prioritization of tasks, tracking overall project status, and reporting on key deliverables. The Project Manager will lead or assist in communication to internal and external project stakeholders. The Project Manager must communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives, and is apt at managing expectations.
The Project Manager is responsible for working closely with product owners, software engineers, quality assurance, and operations teams.
This position will be involved in customer support and operational activities, and will act as the ITIL Service Manager for one or more Enterprise Document Management services.
Bachelors degree in business administration, communications, information science, or related field.
Minimum of two years' experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks involving technical project coordination, technical project management, and/or customer communications.
Ability to manage a diverse range of activities in a very visible and pressured environment, exercising independent judgment in resolving problems.
Ability to speak and write about technical issues for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.
An effective team player who enjoys collaboration.
Ability to work independently, and with minimal supervision.
Experience with Agile project management.
Demonstrated technical project management soft skills, including tolerance for ambiguity, ability to earn the trust of stakeholders, ability to motivate team members, tenacious problem ownership, the ability to deliver bad news gracefully, and a dedication to customer advocacy.
IT background with experience across the software development life cycle, and experience in all program/project phases: plan, initiate, elaborate, design, prototype, build, test, deploy.
Experience with large scale technical project management in large, complex environments.
Experience in Higher Education, preferably at a major research university.
Knowledge of IT accessibility issues for users with disabilities; familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices; experience testing for accessibility; and demonstrated ability to design content/applications with accessibility considerations.
