Administrative Specialist – Department of Modern and Classical Languages
The George Mason University Department of Modern and Classical Languages invites applications for an Administrative Specialist to oversee the main office operations. Work as a liaison with other campus offices and constituencies;
Report to the department chair and provide administrative support to the chair, the office manager, and the entire department;
Coordinate textbook orders;
Administer of placement exams;
Coordinate department-sponsored conferences and events;
Assist with scheduling and staffing;
Manage all main office operations, including answering questions and providing information about university and departmental policies; and
Responsible for general clerical and administrative tasks.
Organized individual with strong administrative experience and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team;
Skilled secretarial experience;
Effective interpersonal communication and customer relations skills, including diplomacy and the ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of personal and academic backgrounds;
Must have experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, as well as other databases and social media outlets;
Must possess knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures with the ability to hire, train and lead student staff; and
Must be able to work with a deadline and have the flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Higher education experience;
Bachelor's degree or equivalent; and
Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and eVA (Commonwealth of Virginia procurement system).
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
