The Muskingum University Athletics Communication Department is currently accepting applications for the full-time, 10-month position of Assistant Athletics Communication Director. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Athletics Communication and serve as a primary media contact for Muskingum’s 21 varsity sports. College housing is included with the position.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing pre-game information, news releases, keeping in-game statistics, assisting in home-event management, responding to statistical and report requirements from the NCAA, Ohio Athletic Conference, and intercollegiate opponents, updating the Muskingum athletic web site with results, game stories, previews, statistics, student-athlete profiles, rosters and schedules, and utilizing Muskingum’s social media platforms to promote Muskingum’s athletic programs.
Essential responsibilities include the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability to effectively supervise and train student personnel, and ability to work well with supervisor, coworkers, coaches, university administrators, the campus community, and the public. Candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal skills. Evening and weekend work will be required.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is required, with previous experience working in an athletics communication office. The candidate must have the necessary skills to effectively utilize Stat Crew, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and various social media platforms.
