Reporting to the Executive Director, the Resource and Communications Assistant assists in the planning and implementation of special events; the planning and implementation of marketing, media relations, and public relations efforts to support special events, agency’s programs and activities; and the implementation of strategies to effectively communicate the mission of The LeaderShop to the community, donors, prospective donors, parents, participants, and media representatives.
Primary: Resource Development and Communications
Work collaboratively with the Executive Director to meet all resource development plans and goals
Work with volunteer committees and agency staff to plan and execute fundraising events that meet or exceed the agency’s special event fundraising goals as well as cultivation efforts
Provide direction to volunteers and staff throughout the event process
Assist in acquiring event partners, sponsors, and volunteers
Prepare and present analysis reports of special event fundraising activities for committee meetings and monthly board meetings
In partnership with the Executive Director, the chair of the Resource Development and chair of the Communications Committees, develop compelling written materials for special event publicity and marketing (press releases, announcements, direct mail pieces, signage, and so on). To support all agency programs, develop for review and implementation print and electronic newsletters, direct mail solicitations, content for press release and news stories to be submitted to local media outlets, and content for the agency’s electronic and social media tools, including its website and Facebook page, among others
In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and implement cultivation strategies to secure individual and business sponsors for special events and other agency programs and activities. Such strategies include in-person meetings, a mail and online solicitations
Organize and facilitate mailings associated with special events (invitations, acknowledgement letters and solicitation letters) and to promote and enhance public awareness of The LeaderShop’s programs and activities
Research opportunities for special event expansion and growth as well as ways in which the public visibility of the agency as a whole might be enhanced
Create annual budgets for events and communications vehicles and projects
Working with the Executive Director, ensure donor records are current and accurate with all necessary and pertinent information, inputting contacts and actions into database in a timely manner
Articulate The LeaderShop’s mission and programs in public settings to contributor groups (for example, board members, corporate and individual prospects, volunteers, and others) as needed
Assist in the development and submission of grants and grant reporting
Assist in the management and maintenance of the donor database and donor information.
Develop and maintain strong relations with members of the Board of Directors, agency volunteers and community supporters as they relate to event planning and donor cultivation and nurturing
Ensure timely donation tracking and acknowledgement
Perform other duties as assigned
Environmental and Working Conditions
Will require travel to schools, agencies and other off site program/meeting destinations. Some weekends and evenings will be required.
Standing/walking 10% of the time, sitting 70% of the time, traveling 20% of the time.

Salary: $16.00 to $19.00 /hour
Additional Salary Information: This position will be a Full Time Hourly employee.
