Job Requisition Number: 23850. The College of Environmental Design (CED) operates three academic departments – Architecture, City and Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning – conferring both undergraduate and graduate degrees. CED has 55 full-time and 35 part-time teaching faculty, 45 career staff, and over 1,000 students. The operations of the College are financed with state funds, gifts and endowments and other revenue sources in an amount roughly totaling $22,000,000 annually. The College runs academic programs throughout the year including fall, spring and summer. The college houses two organized research units – the Center for Environmental Design Research and Institute for Urban and Regional Development -- with a number of research programs running under their umbrellas.
This position supports the main CED website (ced.berkeley.edu) and 16 subordinate sites written in the Expression Engine content management system (similar to Drupal). The position also oversees management of a number of Wordpress and related php/html sites that are authored by faculty and staff.
The CED web sites function with a distributed author system where a number of individuals have the ability to manage content in sections of one or more sites. The web system is a major communications conduit for the College producing lively news content, events listings and research announcements. The web system also supports the graduate, undergraduate and summer academic programs and the research institutes. Content generated for the web is also used regularly for our social media program and news media outreach. The incumbent in this position should have familiarity with website hosting, content management and other technologies to be able to select and oversee technical support vendors, deal with campus services and determine the need for upgrades, and manage contracts.
This position requires a self-motivated leader able to work directly with all levels of the organization and be proactive in asking for information. There are a number of seasonal updates to the academic areas that require gathering information from the departments.
