The membership manager has primary responsibility for all processes and communications associated with the society’s members. He or she will also serve as the editorial assistant for the society’s peer-reviewed journal. This is an excellent early career opportunity for candidates interested in association management and/or the geological sciences.
*Manage the membership application and renewal process using the society’s association management system
*Collaborate on membership recruitment and renewal campaigns
*Use a data-driven approach to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and progress toward membership goals
*Take responsibility for accuracy of all data related to the society’s membership program
*Maintain and update membership records, mailing lists, and email distribution lists
*Correspond with donors and track donations
*Develop materials that highlight the value of membership in the society
*Monitor manuscripts submitted to the society’s journal and communicate with editors regularly
*Organize pieces of weekly electronic newsletter
*Update association social media pages and website
*Communicate with members about society news and developments in the geochemistry community
*Assist with scheduling of meetings for boards and committees
*Provide support for society conferences and awards
*Fulfill product orders and handle various office management tasks
The qualified candidate must possess good verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills with high attention to detail; and proficiency in common office software, particularly Excel. Experience with Abila’s NetFORUM system preferred. Must be collaborative, solution focused, and entrepreneurial. The candidate should be comfortable navigating the Internet and using social media platforms. A bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of work experience are required (work experience during college will be considered). Occasional travel may be required.
