The Scalia Law and Alumni Relations Unit—which reports to the Dean of Scalia Law—provides leadership, support, and coordination in generating significant private support for the Law School's research, teaching and service mission through the management of fundraising campaigns, alumni and constituent engagement programs, and service to the Law School's academic units for priority projects and approved campaigns.
Scalia Law seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead the Annual Giving program and to develop a strong foundation for current and future success both during and beyond the current campaign. Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Advancement and Alumni Relations for the Law School, and working as a team with the campaign Director and the Law School's Alumni Director of Alumni Relations, the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for planning and executing the alumni engagement and solicitation plans at Scalia Law School's annual giving programming through strategic use of engagement tools such as e-mail, social media, web, Phonathon, and direct mail. Additionally, the Director of Annual Giving, working with the campaign team, will manage a portfolio of key leadership annual giving prospects for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship in conjunction with campaign operations.
Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree and substantial experience (six or more years is preferred) at the director level;
Experience in managing progressively successful annual fundraising campaigns, running direct mail, telemarketing, online giving programs, and a proven record of personally closing leadership gifts;
Data analysis, technical competencies, and a facility for working with sophisticated reporting is critical;
Must be able to work independently, establish and balance priorities, and meet goals and objectives in an environment of high expectations and strong work ethic;
Must have knowledge of emerging trends in annual giving for higher education, specifically graduate programs such as law schools, as well as a highly developed understanding of successful fundraising practices;
Must have a proven success record with collaborating with Alumni Relations staff on programming (such as reunion giving, class gift campaigns, etc.);
Meticulous attention to detail and data accuracy;
Must be cognizant of applicable best practices and compliant with fundraising laws, policies and ethics;
Excellent written, oral, and analytical skills are mandatory;
Excellent computer skills, including database reporting, list segmentation ability, and use of Microsoft Office products;
Proficiency and comfort using Advance C/S, iModules, and Ellucian reporting tools (web programming and use of web tools would be a plus); and
Ability to travel is required, as is the commitment to working hours that may start earlier or end later than the usual 9-5 timeframe.
Graduate-level degree and six or more years of direct experience working in a senior leadership role in an annual giving program in higher education; and
Experience with graduate school, such as law school, annual giving.
