This position is classified as a Senior Public Information Officer, with the working title of "University Writer". The incumbent is responsible for creating messages, developing copy, and providing communications counsel related to institutional news, including for administration; development and capital campaigns; and university awards and honors. This position will produce data driven institutional stories related to subjects such as diversity and enrollment. This position serves as a media relations contact to promote key initiatives, respond to media and other requests for information, and to gather and analyze information. The incumbent will be charged with building media relationships and pitching to a general media audience. Will work as part of a team of communications professionals in the News & Information division, with the most immediate group of colleagues being media relations professionals. The larger University Communications group also includes marketing, development, design, video, and social media functions to develop and maintain an effective integrated marketing program for internal and external campus audiences.
