Under the Director of ResearchCommunications and the Vice Chancellor for Research, the CommunicationsSpecialist II assists in the creation and management of the University'sResearch publications and online presence. This position provides professionalcreative writing, presentation and/or production development of marketingpieces on behalf of the Office of Research Communications and the Office ofResearch.
Writes originalcontent for publication to complement the university's research goals andmission for a variety of audiences.
Assists in thedevelopment of local, regional, national news stories, news pitches, andstories for external and internal publications such as The Research Rainmaker,press releases, blog posts, and annual reports.
Collaborates with theUTHSC Office of Communications and Marketing to ensure communications effortsare consistent and aligned with the overall university branding and messaging.
Curates content andmanages the Office of Research's electronic messaging, including its websiteand social media channels, ensuring updates and compliance of branding goals.
Stays abreast on ideasand trends using social media platforms for managing research development.Monitors conversations on multiple platforms in an effort to increase followersand engagement.
Assists in theplanning and execution of special events on behalf of the Office of Research,such as the Hot Topics in Research, The VCR's Distinguished Lecture Series, andCORNET Award Ceremonies and Conferences.
Collaborates withother Office of Research departments to develop and design marketing materialson behalf of the Office of Research efficiently serving staff and theuniversity, including the use of technical equipment and software.
Represents departmentat meetings as needed.
Designs anddistributes electronic communication messaging on behalf of the Office ofResearch and its affiliated offices.
Performs other specific duties as assigned by the Directorof Research Communications and Vice Chancellor for Research.
