The National Security Institute is dedicated to finding real-world answers to national security law and policy questions. We strive to provide balance to the public discourse on the most difficult national security challenges facing the United States and its allies. NSI is a platform for research, teaching, scholarship, and policy development that incorporates a realistic assessment of the threats facing the United States and its allies as well as an appreciation of the legal and practical challenges facing U.S. intelligence, defense, law enforcement, homeland security, and cybersecurity communities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Day-to-day execution of NSI educational programs and conferences, NSI projects and papers, the NSI website, NSI business operations, including donor relations;
Required to conduct day-to-day execution of various projects, programs, papers, and events at NSI as assigned by NSI leadership;
Development and distribution of marketing materials and managing print, TV, and online media relationships as well as producing social media content;
Requires ongoing interaction with applicants, participants, vendors, instructors, and law school and university staff to ensure the continuing success of the programs;
Provides for servicing of donor needs, and support for donor efforts;
Coordination of NSI subprograms and acting as liaison for subprogram directors and their events and activities;
Supervises the NSI program assistant, wage, temporary, and other staff, as assigned, that are involved in program development and project execution. This individual will also help ensure NSI staff, as assigned, are meeting relevant goals and metrics and are delivering a quality product;
Work with NSI leadership and deputy program directors to develop and execute on ideas for advancing the national policy conversation and improving GMU's academic programs on national security matters across the NSI portfolio;
Responsible for expanding NSI's relationship with federal and other government officials and agencies as assigned by NSI leadership and expanding upon NSI's internet and social media presence and relationship with the media as assigned by NSI leadership; and
Responsible for expanding NSI's relationship with other institutions at GMU, outside organizations, and the business community as assigned by NSI leadership and for reporting on outcomes of projects, programs, papers, and events as assigned by NSI leadership.
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience related to law, national security, foreign affairs, marketing, social media, and/or event management; and
Must have demonstrated ability to manage teams and multiple programs.
J.D. degree and/or other advanced degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Excellent business, contract negotiation and computer skills; and
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
