The Machine Learning Department is one of seven academic units in the School of Computer Science, is the world's only academic Machine Learning Department and is known internationally for its outstanding research and educational programs. Machine Learning (ML) is a fascinating field of artificial intelligence (AI) research and practice where we investigate how computer agents can improve their perception, cognition, and action with experience. Machine Learning is about machines improving from data, knowledge, experience, and interaction.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Design, code, modify the Machine Learning web site and applications
Application and system administration
Communications, training, documentation
Writing news and feature stories for marketing and communications content areas, including media relations, internal communications and the Machine Learning Department website
Developing story ideas, interviewing, writing and editing, or generating photographs, video or audio segments
Monitoring social media accounts
Collaborate with colleagues across campus on social media campaigns
Growing the overall reach and effectiveness of our online communications
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
At least 1-3 years of relevant web development experience required; 3-5 years experience preferred.
A knowledge of content management systems design and management, and an understanding of both front-end and back-end web design.
A demonstrated knowledge of programming languages such as PHP, Java, Python, HTML, SQL.
Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers.
Knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
Attention to detail, superb written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work well within teams.
Experience or deep knowledge of higher education; broad understanding of or interest in higher education issues and in current events. (preferred)
Demonstrated experience working with content production professionals, including designers, photographers, and printers. (preferred)
Demonstrated ability working with metrics, analysis, and reporting tools, with the ability to analyze this data and make decisions related to marketing and communication efforts. (preferred)
Knowledge of online survey authoring tools. (preferred)
Experience with video and audio production. (preferred)
