The Marketing and Communications team at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business is looking for a content specialist for a short-term (five month) appointment to assist with the creation of digital content for nearly 20 academic programs that span the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, and the Hotel School. Working closely with the Executive Director of Integrated Marketing and the Lead Generation Content Manager he or she will plan and execute integrated, measureable content that support enrollment goals for the college admissions teams.
The Content Specialist will primarily:
Develop content (with the Content Manager and outside vendors) in the form of written articles, ghost-written blogs, infographics, videos, animated graphics, photo slideshows, and more
Repurpose content and suggest content marketing opportunities for integrated campaigns per program, including email marketing, display advertising, paid content placements, social media promotion, etc.
Coordinate with students, faculty, or staff to commission first-person articles based on editorial calendar needs; edit submissions
Post, tag, and categorize created content using WordPress while following in-house style guides and SEO best practices
Monitor content marketing results with the lead generation team using Google Analytics and other software to determine effectiveness of content pieces and campaigns, including engagement and conversions, making adjustments to strategy as needed
Assist with content development needs of the department
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Experience: 1-3 years proven writing and interviewing skills in a marketing communications role
Must be a strong writer and editor, preferably for digital platforms
Must be able to synthesize complex information into clear written or designed communications
Strong skills in strategic and creative thinking, organization, and project management; innovative, fast-paced, and flexible
Ability to work in teams and execute on complex projects
Experience with planning and executing marketing communications and campaigns with social media, email, and advertisements
Skilled with Microsoft Office and Google Drive
Familiar with Adobe Photoshop for the purpose of resizing images
Ability to write for SEO and structure content as such with consideration for aesthetics and readability
Experience with content management systems, including WordPress
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field
Recent study of digital communications and content marketing
Experience working as part of a marketing communications staff within a large organization or agency
Intermediate graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite) and video production skills (Adobe Premiere)
Competency in WordPress back-end administrator tasks; understanding of basic CSS, HTML
Experience using Trello for project management
Current examples of published news stories, social media posts, blog entries, produced videos, or graphic design
