Under the supervision of the Senior Department Administrator and Department Chair, the Computer Science (CS) Publicist and Web Editor serves as the primary staff member responsible for writing, editing, and publishing news and other announcements that establish and maintain the department's image and public presence on the web, in newsletters, and in social media. S/He ensures a professional image for individual CS faculty members, instructors, and research centers through website and content creation and management. The Publicist and Web Editor supports internal communications by distributing a weekly list of department events and managing a private wiki for confidential image and document sharing. S/He also develops and implements a departmental publicity strategy, incorporating the School of Engineering's web content management system, electronic newsletters, and appropriate social media outlets.
This position also promotes the accomplishments and educational opportunities of the department by producing news articles along with timely updates to the CS Web site and other social media. This position will also manage departmental events, and provide logistical arrangements for events not coordinated by the Events/Administrative Coordinator.
