Saint Mary's College seeks a Media Relations Associate responsible for implementing day-to-day public relations programs and digital outreach under the supervision of the Director of Integrated Communications, performing related tasks such as developing press releases, media statements, and pitches; managing and developing content for multiple social media platforms including event promotion and coverage; and managing promotional email campaigns. Additionally, this position works directly with faculty to develop content about academic programs in support of a College-wide recruitment initiative called Team Recruit; develops concepts, researches, and writes promotional and editorial content for the College website and social media platforms; and contributes to the overall content development effort of the Marketing Communications department by writing copy for use across integrated communications channels, such as print and digital advertising, collateral, publications, and Courier, the Saint Mary’s College periodical. The Associate works closely and collaboratively with the Marketing Communications team, as well as with College leadership, faculty, staff, students and alumnae, and members of the news media. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related field. Minimum of two years of media relations or public relations experience, or related education. Sound knowledge of editorial and journalistic principles and demonstrated success in placing stories in the media on behalf of a complex organization. Experience and demonstrated ability to develop concepts and write copy for a variety of tactical applications in both persuasive and informative voices. Ability to maintain continuity of message, tone and style within established College brand standards. Ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, media, students, alumnae, and other key constituents. Experience in managing a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Strong familiarity with social media reporting and web analytics.
