The Kansas Healthcare Collaborative (KHC) is a provider-led organization dedicated to providing Kansas physicians and Kansas hospitals the tools and information they need to continuously improve patient care. KHC is seeking a full-time Communications Manager. The Communications Manager plays an important role in the success of the KHC and its partnerships with Kansas hospitals, physicians, and other stakeholders within the health care community. The Communications Manager should have a broad range of high performing skills and experience to assist the KHC Executive Director in a fast-paced environment with the development and implementation of KHC’s strategic internal and external communications activities in support of KHC clinical quality and patient safety initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Manager adds value in the following ways: •Leads and directs efforts to effectively communicate KHC’s mission, vision and goals to the Board of Directors, staff, participants in KHC initiatives, and the public oDevelops, implements and monitors policies and procedures necessary to efficiently complete the marketing/communications/public relations functions •Collaborates with the Executive Director and partners to develop marketing, communications, and public relations strategies that will strengthen program reach and cultivate meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level, external audiences, including the media and key influencers oCoordinates/provides editorial support to members/groups participating in quality improvement efforts to raise the visibility of KHC and assists with local communications efforts. oArranges for KHC representation and participates as needed at trade shows, statewide health care meetings, and at other relevant events. oPlans, coordinates and manages public outreach and education events, including webinars, workshops and conferences, on budget and on time. oWrites, edits, designs, and produces print and online materials for meetings, press releases, news articles, and conferences •Develops and implements an integrated communications plan to: advance KHC’s brand identity; expand awareness of its initiatives, including program success stories; and increase the visibility and impact of its programs across key stakeholder audiences oManages KHC’s brand strategy to ensure integrity and consistency. oDevelops and implements a master "branding" and style guide for KHC. •Works with the Executive Director and staff to recognize internal and external communications challenges and emerging issues; defines and executes appropriate solutions. •Maintains editorial calendar and manages the schedule, editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all print and electronic collateral including newsletters, brochures, annual report, e-newsletters, website content, social media, reports, internal corporate documents, press releases, and program materials •Manages the development and maintenance of the KHC website and social media outlets. oOversees KHC digital communications, including the content for the website, social media, and YouTube oEnsures quality of social media outlets and the website by regularly updating articles, blogs, videos and other educational content. oMonitors, tracks and enhances KHC social media communication opportunities •Assists with the coordination of KHC initiatives such as the Summit on Quality and other KHC initiatives. oSpecific duties for the Summit on Quality may include planning, sponsorships, promotion, and managing the quality awards program oWorks with KHC program directors to provide communication support to KHC programs and initiatives. •Provides communications reports and contacts to support KHC data systems and contact database oProvides reports and analysis of communications activities oMonitors state and national news outlets, list serves and online communities for information related to health care topics of strategic interest. •Establishes a positive working relationship with the media and manages media contacts oResearches and recommends vendors, and acts as a liaison in designing and purchasing marketing collateral oExercises judgment to capitalize on media opportunities and participation in health care forums; prepares talking points, presentations and other supporting material. •Seeks professional development and leadership opportunities in marketing, communications, public relations, and/or health care management to enhance KHC operations. •Exhibits comprehensive understanding of state or federal contract expectations and 508 compliance implementations. •Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS •Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a communications or marketing field •ABC, CMP, SCMP, or APR credential preferred •Excellent written/verbal communications and presentation skills oDemonstrated skills in writing for a broad range of purposes, including press releases, success stories, annual reports, and social media. oExperience in preparing and delivering engaging presentations. oExperience in design and production of a broad range of print and on-line materials and publications. oDemonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities •Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. oProficiency with Adobe Creative Suite including: InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc. •Strong customer service skills •Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal skills oFlexibility concerning work schedule to accommodate evening and weekend meetings and events oAbility to work independently and manage tasks from start to finish but also to work as part of a team •Basic understanding of the health care field, preferred oExperience in risk management and / or quality improvement activities, preferred oFamiliarity with health care related associations and an ability to engage and interface with all types of health care professionals •Experience developing and managing budgets
