SNMMI's Communications Department is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position is responsible for communications activities and the writing for SNMMI, including press releases, columns and articles, social network management, and scientific news.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Writes and distributes press releases for journals and for SNMMI, including several/month for scientific journal content and many in the months leading up to the Annual Meeting.
Ghost-writes journal and Uptake leadership columns (22 per year); occasionally ghost-writes articles and other documents.
Leads social media efforts for the society (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube); develops and implements plans for growth and engagement; tracks and reports on metrics, effectiveness, trends.
Creates and publishes engaging news posts for the SNMMI website.
Manages media relations for the society, including all proactive and reactive contacts with media.
Oversees development of videos, including AM plenary video when necessary as well as journal and other videos.
Develops and manages production of SNMMI’s annual report.
Handles public relations (PR) for Annual and Mid-Winter Meetings, including press releases, reporter registration, press room logistics, and similar activities.
Manages PR content for the SNMMI website, including Media audience page, SNMMI in the News, Member News.
Updates www.snmmi.org website as necessary.
Tracks media coverage as possible.
Handles other communications responsibilities as need arises.
Newsletter Management/Coordination (25%)
Serves as managing editor for the Uptake, PET CoE Newsletter, and MI Gateway newsletters.
Handles all development and production, including layout in HTML in the website content management system.
Produces and distributes email blasts for all newsletters.
BA/BS Degree, with postgraduate seminars, courses or workshops in journalism or public relations.
Minimum 5-7 years of successfully demonstrated work experience in communications and writing.
Experience running and managing social media/network sites.
Proven verbal and written skills.
Position-related computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365, Informz, IMIS and Hootsuite; Higher Logic a plus.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
A general knowledge of current biological and/or chemical sciences, either through college-level coursework or through work experience.
