POLICY AND COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab-North America (J-PAL NA), to support policy outreach and strategic communications. Primary tasks will involve policy outreach, stakeholder engagement, communications strategy and brand development, social media engagement, and website maintenance. Will write and edit printed publications, presentations, and multimedia content that synthesize and highlight the policy implications of key research results; identify and cultivate strategic relationships with media representatives, nonprofits, and governments; provide communications support to J-PAL convenings; follow media coverage of U.S. social policy, generate relevant press contacts, and curate office news briefings; identify policy windows; work with J-PAL North America's leadership to increase its visibility and brand broadly; arrange and coordinate speaking engagements for senior leadership; create and share content through J-PAL North America's blog, Twitter feed, and Facebook account; identify key opportunities for J-PAL to respond to breaking news or hot topics on social media; analyze, report on, and respond to social media activity and trends; generate social media and website analytics and maintain website search engine optimization; support website content updates and improvements as well as performing quality checks; and build up and maintain J-PAL North America's photo and media library.
Job Requirements REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, journalism, communications, or a closely related field; excellent writing skills; at least two years' experience doing policy and/or communications work; advanced oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to think strategically, handle several different projects/tasks at one time, complete tasks assigned, and meet deadlines; self-motivation; and demonstrated success working collaboratively and independently.
