Develops effective marketing and communications strategies, plans, programs and materials of a specialized and complex nature to promote UMSL people and programs.
Write and edit content for various campus media channels and student recruitment materials including UMSL Daily, UMSL Monthly, UMSL Magazine, UMSL websites, UMSL newsletters, UMSL presentations, UMSL CRM and social media.
Provide implementation leadership over one of UMSL's primary media channels – listed above.
Initiate external media coverage of campus activities, programs and people – including creation of news releases and targeted pitch letters/emails/calls.
Meet with administrators, deans, faculty or staff to plan and implement affective PR approaches to support strategic campus and unit goals and/or activities.
Serve as a member of UMSL's crisis communications team.
Other duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field. Minimum of one year of professional experience in a related field.
Working knowledge of video or photography editing software.
Working knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Working knowledge of website production in a CMS or Word Press environment.
Two years or more of professional experience in a news media or organizational PR role.
