Rowan University is a public comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 16,000 students. Performs a wide variety of administrative and support services within a section, division, or department. Assists in the planning and support of program activities. Coordinates office operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for providing administrative, analytical, computing and staff support for the department. Executes assignments and tasks requiring data collection, information gathering, literature review, analysis, data entry/retrieval, data base maintenance, and forms and graphics generation utilizing a variety of software packages.
Coordinates and maintains the department calendar.
Makes travel arrangements and complete travel reimbursements.
Maintains the department library.
Duplicates, files, and organizes office documents. Maintains the database of references using EndNote.
Maintains the department-related websites.
Conducts literature searches and literature reviews to support new and continuing research projects
Edits and proofreads papers for journal submissions and grant proposals
Manages all administrative tasks for the department including but not limited to:
- Distributing mail,
- Keeping track of office supplies,
- Maintaining the contact list of department employees and updating it as necessary
- Serving as liaison with the NJISA Administrator to address department-related issues, and
- Serving as liaison between the department and other administrative units such as Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Human Resources, and Information Services and Technology.
Serves as an editorial assistant to assist the Director of Research?s role as the Editor-in-Chief of an academic journal with tasks including but not limited to:
- Performing quality check of incoming manuscripts
- Communicating with authors, editors, and reviewers regarding manuscript submissions
- Assisting with preparing for the annual editorial board reports
- Maintaining social media presence to disseminate research article findings

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor?s Degree in Liberal Arts, Public or Business Administration, the Social Sciences or a related field, plus one (1) year of professional level experience in a business office, government agency, or university setting. Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
