The position is responsible for developing and writing copy for USF that communicates key university messages and fulfills USF's communications and marketing strategic goals. The ideal candidate is a team player who is creative, articulate, collaborative and flexible.
Write compelling marketing copy for multiple channels that appeals to prospective student audiences, reflects our brand, increases SEO and follows best practices
Create and edit university digital content (including headlines, intros, and body copy), for key web pages in the Admissions, Academics, and About sections, as well as the homepage
Collaborate with news writing team to create Q&As, extended captions, and other content for the USF News site
Edit web content contributed by other content creators across the university, ensuring consistency of message, voice, and tone
Work closely with clients to research, develop, and write marketing copy for academic department websites that align with their marketing objectives and strategies
Communicate SEO data analysis with clients and help create content optimization strategies for clients, including specific website content recommendations, use of social media, and external website links
Monitor analytics of top-level academic and admission web pages and provide specific recommendations to improve SEM goals
Collaborate with creative team and client managers to create copy across a variety of projects, including video scripts, outdoor advertisements, print materials, and banner ads as needed
Assist with development and enforcement of university web content and editorial style guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned
Understanding and appreciation of USFs mission and values.
Five years of experience in marketing communications copywriting.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Proven record of writing successful marketing materials for full array of print and electronic media.
Ability to perform at the highest level under tight deadlines and in a team environment.
A consistent service orientation.
Highly organized, enthusiastic and creative.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office for Mac.
Proficiency with or ability to learn project tracking software.
Familiarity with Associated Press and Chicago style guides.
Ability to collaborate with in-house and freelance designers.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, follow through on tasks, and meet deadlines.
Ability to think strategically and provide counsel to clients
Experience with analyzing web analytics and making recommendations
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Masters degree in a subject matter related to position.
2. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
3. Familiarity with Drupal content management system.
4. Familiarity with higher education marketing.
