Location: Douglas County Extension Office
Timeframe: May 22, 2017 through August 18, 2017
Compensation: $12 per hour. Work related mileage and expenses will be reimbursed. Housing will not be provided.
The University of Minnesota Extension is offering a paid internship open to bachelor’s degree seeking students. This internship will provide exposure to Minnesota horticulture through local operations, educational programs, applied research, communications, and program development. This is a 3 month paid internship starting May 22, 2017 through August 18, 2017. Upon being selected, the intern will go through orientation and will work 30 hours per week from May through August (some nights and weekends).
*Assist with various duties in the office, including but not limited to:
-Writing news releases, program/event promotional materials;
-Copying and filing;
-Assisting with Website content and maintenance;
*Assist with program or event management including:
-Set-up, tear down and management of field days or other events;
-Manage registration and food service if needed;
-Correspond with speakers, farmers and other Extension educators as needed
*Assist with communication projects, including:
-Writing blog posts;
-Managing/developing social media accounts;
-Develop systems to track social media and develop email lists for events/activities;
-Develop program/event evaluations in cooperation with the local educator.
*Assist with research projects or events surrounding research in cooperation with local educators.
*Assist with educational program development including but not limited to:
-Research on program content, potential resources, and design options
-Content development (writing), recording or sourcing
-Possible video design, scripting, recording, editing
-On-line systems management and design
-Production of program management plan for future use and further program design/development
*Be a part of the local office team and assist with county fair and other ag related events as requested during the summer
