Associate Vice Provost for Communications
An exciting and challenging career opportunity is currently available at Virginia Tech for Associate Vice Provost for Communications. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Provost and the Senior Associate Vice President for University Relations, the candidate selected for this position will be responsible for the strategic communication and implementation of a comprehensive communications and marketing program for the Provost's Office.
She/he will integrate the broad communication and marketing goals of the Provost's Office in a wide variety of written documents including speeches, position papers, news correspondence, press statements, presentations, publications, resolutions, and similar items for the Provost's Office. This individual must work well in teams, often taking the lead, and sometimes serving in a support role with other communications personnel.
Provost's office-based communications.
Strong collaboration with University Relations.
Coordinate content for Provost's Office web pages.
Provide social media management and direction for mobile and other digital platforms.
Work with Advancement, gift officers, and leadership to support large Philanthropic donor requests.
Guide implementation of communication strategies relevant to graduate and undergraduate faculty recruiting, inclusion and diversity.
Implementation of University identity standards in the Provost's Office.
Experience should include strategic communications planning and implementation for higher education, government and/or nonprofit along with public presentation and communications skills addressing the public through audio, video, and the written word. Understanding of developing and emerging communication technologies and platforms and proven ability to interpret analytics and adapt communications strategies around such findings.
Master's degree in public relations, communication, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or Bachelor's degree with relevant experience that equates to an advanced degree.
Preferred experience in public relations management in higher education.
Preferred experience providing communications support at the executive level.
