Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Public Relations Specialist for The Centers for Global Advancement and International. This position reports to Director of Budget and Personnel of GAIA, the Public Relations Specialist will have primary responsibility for educating alumni, parents, students, and other donors from various countries, especially China, about the international opportunities available through GAIA Centers. This position develops an overall marketing strategy for GAIA's International fund-raising both on the Rutgers campuses as well as nationally and internationally. Among the key duties are the following:Assesses marketing efforts through various benchmarks, with the ultimate goal of increasing international donation for GAIA initiatives.
Designs online and printed materials, plan and execute several large-scale events as well as donor meetings globally, particularly in Asian countries.
Creates press materials, features stories, and effective outreach to media.
Communicates and engages with alumni, parents, students, and other donors from various countries, especially China (utilizing Chinese social media platforms to keep track of the latest activities and conversations in alumni, parents, student groups, also keep them informed about Rutgers' recent news, manage and promote Rutgers' online presence overseas via different social media channels)
Develops strategic plan to instigate a dialogue with key constituents and monitoring of conversations.
Assist with posting and monitoring of international fund-raising efforts on GAIA Centers' website
Provides regular staff activity report as well as occasional campaign effectiveness reports.
Coordinates and staffs of some international fund-raising and promotional events.

Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in a related field (Public Relations, Public Administration, Communication, Business) is preferred.
Ability to fluently speak, read, and write Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred.
Cantonese skills are preferred. Knowledge of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau cultures and customs is preferred.
Knowledge of cultures and customs across East and Southeast Asia is preferred.
Experience in fundraising environment at Rutgers University is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Also requires good communication skills and computer literacy to include industry standard software.
