The Digital Content Specialist supports the Online Communications and Design group in ourefforts to develop and maintain accurate, current, relevant and engaging content throughout the Simmons College websites and social media channels. Under the direction of the Content Manager and Strategist, the Digital Content Specialist will serve as the "eyes and ears" of Simmons, making connections throughout campus and generating a steady flow of fresh story ideas. Must be a creative, detail-oriented communicator with experience writing for the web. This individual should be self-directed, but also value teamwork and collaboration.Writing & Editing: tasks include conducting interviews; writing and editing original news stories, profiles, and program descriptions; ensuring that existing and new content is accurate, appropriate for the web and for intended audience(s), and adheres to the College's editorial style and brand standards; editing and proofreading content written by others; and cultivating a robust network of campus contacts to fuel content creation.Website Content Development: tasks include creating callouts/feature boxes; providing support and guidance to cross-departmental team of content providers; implementing content optimization strategies; and creating integrated content opportunities for social media, video, and photo.Social Media: tasks include acting as the backup for the Social Media Lead, providing institutional social media account management and coverage during any absences; and promoting your web content through our social media channels.Analytics & SEO: tasks include analyzing and reporting on content/page performance; using data to inform content recommendations; and reviewing content/pages for opportunities to optimize content, including SEO and link building.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or other writing-intensive area2+ years of related professional experience, including writing, editing/proofreadingSubstantial knowledge of web writing and best practices for writing for the webUnderstanding of the nuances of communication and tone in different mediumsAbility to generate a consistent flow of story ideas, and to conduct research and interviews to develop contentExperience working with social media in a professional environmentFamiliarity with website navigation and usabilityExperience working within a content management systemAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyAbility to manage multiple tasks/projects on deadline with a client-service orientationPreferred QualificationsExperience with Sitecore CMSExperience in higher educationInstructions to Applicants: To apply please submit a resume and cover letter with your application.As a College committed to diversity, Simmons encourages applications broadly.
