Based in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Harvard Prevention Research Center on Nutrition and Physical Activity works with communities, community agencies, state and local government, and other partners to develop, implement, and evaluate methodologies and interventions to improve nutrition and physical activity and reduce overweight and chronic disease risk among children, youth, and their families, and to reduce and eliminate disparities in these outcomes.
This position primarily performs editorial and communications duties under the direction of the Project Manager related to project-specific materials in preparation for final publication, including on Harvard Prevention Research Center's (HPRC) websites.
Specific job functions include the following:
-Maintain, update, and provide basic technical support for HPRC websites through Wordpress Content Management System, editing and drafting new material, uploading content and images, monitoring website analytics and compiling reports. -Facilitate the promotion of HPRC research activity (studies, presentations, conferences, etc.) - Assist in the preparation of translating and tailoring research results into accessible messaging/materials for different audiences - Maintain social media (Twitter) accounts, and collaborating and maintaining communication with project team, monitoring and collecting research-related news clips and media coverage. -Provide basic graphic design support, which may include working with researchers to develop individual graphics or full layout and aesthetic for briefs, presentations, and other products. -Prepare agendas and taking notes at communication and project-specific meetings.
Please Note: This is position is Part Time and benefits eligible at 17.5 hours a week. Please Note: This position has a term appointment of June 30, 2018. Please Note: Finalists may be required to complete a translation exercise to demonstrate the ability to translate research for a general audience (lay summary of research article and social media post); sample of original graphic or infographic or an additional sample of original work, such as writing sample.

- 2+ years of related experience; education may count towards experience.
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred. - Competency using a variety of computer software and experience with (or willingess to learn) image creation/editing tools and website multimedia development tools, including: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Google Analytics and Wordpress. - Interest in nutrition and physical activity promotion, interest in learning new technologies, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, detail oriented and strong team player, able to multitask between projects, organized. Demonstrated ability to translate and communicate scientific findings. Overall strong writing, editing, and content development capabilities.
