Reporting to the Executive Editor of the Yale School of Medicine Office of Communications, the editor of Yale Medicine Magazine will oversee publication of three print issues/year of Yale Medicine, and publication of articles on a regular basis in the online edition of the magazine. The editor will work with in-house graphic designer and solicit input from colleagues in the alumni and development offices and the office of the dean. This position is responsible for synthesizing complex medical and scientific concepts to develop forward-looking strategic communications in traditional and new media in order to enhance the School of Medicine's reputation and tell the stories of the medical school. This work showcases the accomplishments in scientific and medical arenas of students, faculty and alumni, as well campus activities and events, leadership messages and initiatives that advance the school's reputation as a leader in medical education, research and clinical care. Night/weekend work may be required on occasion. 1.Manages print and online editions of Yale Medicine. 2.Works collaboratively with in-house staff and supervises interns, freelance writers, photographers, illustrators, and copy editors. 3.Consults with medical school colleagues on themes for coverage in the print magazine, and topics for articles in print and online editions. 4.Creates compelling story ideas and narratives; writes copy and social media posts and manages content. 5.Supports communication planning; coordinates with other communications professionals to achieve institutional goals. 6.Maintains the Yale brand and graphic identity standards; supports and maintains standard operating procedures; contributes to digital asset management. 7.Supports colleagues in preparation of the Weekly Digest and daily news feed on YSM web site. 8.May perform other duties as assigned.
