The Big Sky Conference is seeking an Assistant Commissioner to lead its communications department. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with significant experience in sports information and communications. Candidates will demonstrate initiative and the ability to collaborate with fellow staff members and constituents. They must be able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously and direct a team to meet established goals and deadlines. The Assistant Commissioner will be responsible for the following: • Oversee the general administration of the communications department and staff. • Responsible for creating and distributing conference messages for use across multiple platforms. • Serve as the public affairs officer regarding conference news/announcements and commissioner appearances. • Work with local, regional and national media to highlight the accomplishments of Big Sky athletes and institutions. • Execute the conference’s branding initiatives to enhance the perception of the Big Sky and its members. • Assist in implementing the goals set forth in the strategic plan. • Direct the marketing plan and advertising efforts for the conference basketball championships. • Execution of the annual football kickoff media and meeting event in July. • Manage the sports information and communications efforts for the sports of Football, Cross-Country and Golf. • Serve as media coordinator for the cross country and golf championships. • Manage the day-to-day aspects of primary sports, including but not limited to: Statistics; Weekly Releases and Awards; Social Media; All-Conference and All-Academic Awards; conference website, etc. • Oversee graphic design efforts for the conference website, awards and announcements. • Oversee the updating of record books and on-line media guides for all sports. • Serve as liaison to member institution communications directors. • Serve as the liaison to Fanatics and Learfield.
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10 years of experience in collegiate communications or media relations.
