The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Athletics Director - Communications (R98885) for the Department of Athletics. The Assistant AD - Communications plays a key role as a member of the department’s senior staff. This individual will report directly and work very closely with the Director of Athletics to carry out the vision, mission and goals for the Department of Athletics. The Assistant AD - Communications will directly supervise a staff of full-time employees and interns. All duties and responsibilities are governed by state, federal and university policy.This is a twelve-month position with a salary that is competitive and commensurate with experience. Candidate must have an understanding and working knowledge of NCAA, Sun Belt Conference and institutional rules.Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: develop and adhere to sports information department budget; plan and organize all phases of Division I sports information department, act as a liaison between the athletic department and all media outlets; write and edit news releases, media guides and game notes; maintain statistics, records and photo archives; oversee the content and management of department website. Assist department’s External Operations staff with implementation of marketing campaigns; collaborate with the university’s Office of Communications; and manage external communications maximizing all forms of media, including traditional, broadcast and social. Successful candidate will be the primary contact for men’s basketball and other selected sports, and will be expected to work nights and weekends during the academic year, and travel with select teams. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field and a minimum of two (2) year’s experience in sports information or athletic media relations.Preferred Experience: Experience with relevant software programs (TAS Software, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, etc.). Experience with social media management (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.Application materials must be submitted through the online application system.
