University Communications and Marketing will accomplish this through strategic communications and marketing initiatives that will ensure strong and consistent branding throughout all printed online and media outlets increased visibility and improved recognition of Adelphi?s strategic positioning academic programs educational quality and achievements.The Senior Writer is responsible for creating and managing a wide range of branded content and editorial content for high profile University materials in support of the strategic communications and marketing plans. The Senior Writer must be able to execute at a high-level of quality and work quickly to craft branded headlines subheads and clear and concise copy in fast-paced environment. In addition the Senior Writer proactively contributes ideas for content assigns work to in-house and freelance writers.Branding Strategy and Reputation EnhancementExecute marketing and communications plans that support brand strategyDevelop and edit compelling branded copy for advertisements and marketing materials that advance the University?s brand and strategic priorities including but not limited to headlines subheads and body copy.Serve as the lead writer on high profile University materials including but not limited to the weekly Adelphi Insider From My Desk and adelphi.edu homepage content.Work with deans program directors and departments to identify content that meets University brand and strategic priorities and tells compelling stories..Produce copy that is engaging strategically focused and free of errors for all marketing and branding materials while following University style.Write and edit content for University?s top-level website pages as needed.Content Development and EditingContribute ideas at weekly content meetings and suggest content for homepage banners heroes guest speakers news events and students alumni and faculty to profile.Collaborate with designers marketing managers and other university stakeholders to meet University priorities by creating compelling marketing materials for target audiences including but not limited to Web pages emails newsletters brochures and magazines.Work with communications team to integrate content across multiple platforms including print pieces websites social media and videos.ManagementIn partnership with the Editor manage team of part-time and freelance writers and contributors.Lead individual yearly goal setting for copywriters including training and professional development.Provide performance appraisals and monitor performance goals/feedback for direct reports.Recruit and hire staff including freelancers as needed.Work with client services manager to maintain quality in work while meeting deadlines.Assist copy team and freelancers as needed.Perform other job related duties as assigned.Requirements:Superior writing and editing skills.Capacity to write rapidly and effectively in a deadline-driven environment.Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability including a willingness to undertake both mundane and high profile tasks with enthusiasm and energy.Strong research skills.Demonstrated ability to attend to both grammatical and factual details.Ability to be a self-starter and work independently.A collaborative mindset.Strong communication skills.Demonstrated experience writing for a variety of communication vehicles.Ability to handle a high volume/stress environment.Knowledge of WordPress and InCopy preferable.Knowledge of and experience creating marketing materials.Ability to work night and weekend hours when necessary.Physical Requirements:Ability to work with computers for long hours.Educational/Experience Requirements:Bachelor?s degree required and Advanced degree is preferred in related field.A minimum of 5 years related experience required.Preferred experience in executive communications for a higher education institution.
