This position is within a fast-paced, exciting school environment, and is a role that touches all aspects of school life – admission / recruiting, development / fundraising, day-to-day school activities and beyond. This position requires strong work ethic, fine-tuned attention to details, great organizational and time management skills, as well as creativity and the ability to think outside of the box with regards to all things writing.
Marymount seeks a proactive thinker with a strong communications and content management background, who finds passion in teamwork, strategic thinking, creative writing, and communications projects. Projects are vital and varied, with time split between writing articles for our magazine, published three times per year, news articles for the website on a weekly basis, social media content and strategy creation, and e-newsletters to families and staff once a week. We are looking for an individual who is growth-minded and strategic, with a curiosity and desire to learn, quickly picking up on the Marymount voice and brand.
Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience with demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the execution of communications, marketing, and public relations strategies and content
Big picture thinker with creative drive and creative writing skills
Highly detail-oriented with an ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at a time
Extremely strong writer, with solid editorial experience
Commitment to working with cross-functional teams
Proficient in today’s digital tools including content management systems, email automation tools, database management, general presentation and office applications
Highly organized with an enthusiastic collaborative personality
Available to work some weekends and evening hours covering events around campus
Comfortable working around and with high school-aged kids
Commitment to Marymount High School’s mission
Has a sense of humor, is a team-player, and enjoys a small tight-knit environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related degree
Knowledge of Blackbaud / WhippleHill highly preferred
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred
Photographic eye and photo editing skills preferred but not required
Previous work experience in a non-profit setting and/or in a school environment and understanding of the Los Angeles Independent school realm is a plus
