The Treehouse Childhood Cancer Initiative enables sharing of pediatric cancer genomic data. It makes it possible to analyze a child's cancer data against both childhood and adult patient cohorts across all types of cancer. Treehouse is initiative under the auspices of the Genomic Institute at UCSC. The Genomics Institute creates advanced technologies and open-source genomics platforms to unravel evolutionary patterns, molecular processes and the underpinnings of disease. Our platforms, technologies and scientists unite global communities to create and deploy data-driven, life-saving treatments and innovative environmental and conservation efforts. The Genomics institute is openly and responsibly sharing what is learned and created. It is a public institution dedicated to creating a healthier world.
Social Media Build and manage the Treehouse Childhood Cancer Initiative's social media and news outlet profiles and strategic presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other appropriate media channels. Assist in gathering and preparing information for dissemination to enhance the target audience's understanding of the program. Compile and maintains files (photos, statistics, reports) for media placements. Write brief articles, and determine appropriate social and other media sources. Explore new ways to engage and identify new media sources. Research, develop, and maintains social media distribution lists and identifies/targets appropriate distribution audiences; coordinates and prepares distributions.
Administrative Tasks Order and maintain relevant and current marketing materials relating to the initiative. Schedule meetings relating to advocacy, including coordinating calendars, booking conference rooms, communicating directions to the GI, etc. Compile the contact lists for the donor database. Ensure the list is updated and maintained. Conducts other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Working knowledge of concepts and principles of news, media communications / relations, grant-funded non-profit initiatives.
General knowledge of the usage and applications of electronic communication tools and skill in using same.
Skill to maintain confidentiality.
Good organizational skills.
