Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (AoH) Development & External Relations Team is seeking an Individual Giving Officer, Development & External Relations. The Development and External Relations team is responsible for building and maintaining strategic external relationships with key stakeholders and identifying opportunities that advance the mission and priorities of AoH. Established in 1985, AoH provides education, workforce development training, and college and job placement to adults in DC. Our mission is to provide high quality education and services that change lives and improve our communities.
The Individual Giving Officer will play an integral role on the Development and External Relations Team, building the pipeline of major donors through the annual fund, assisting with social media strategies, coordinating special fundraising events, and providing administrative and logistical support to the team as needed. The Individual Giving Officer, will be responsible for the implementation and management of the direct marketing calendar, including direct mail, email, print, and social media. The individual will be responsible for implementing/coordinating donor and prospect events that further engagement with AoH. Additionally, the Individual Giving Officer provides grant reporting support, communications strategy support, and administrative support as needed. This is a terrific opportunity for an individual who is interested in developing multiple fundraising and communication skillsets while advancing a critical mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct all facets of the AoH Annual Fund to make certain AoH and Annual Fund objectives are established and met. Implement strategies and action plans which ensure the success of reaching monetary and giving participation percentage goals
Help develop strategies to acquire, renew and upgrade annual donors
Implement and manage direct marketing calendar, including direct mail, e-mail, and social media
Conceptualize, write, and edit solicitations and annual giving stewardship messages/campaigns for direct mail, email, and social media
Manage direct mail, email, and social media projects with vendors and internal constituents from concept to completion
Request and prepare data for mailing lists; and analyze results and reporting on progress of appeals
Lead and Manage Adult Education and Family Literacy Week Giving Campaign
Draft grants and foundation reports for gifts under $25,000
Assist CDO in the cultivation and stewardship of donors
Monitor all annual fund donor information; provide and present statistical analysis as needed
Track individual donor activity in database
Manage and continuously update database records
Draft, edit and assist with production of Academy of Hope (AOH) materials, including newsletters, annual report, invitations, and brochures and flyers, in coordination and under the guidance of the CDO and the Director of Communications and Advocacy
Edit documents and materials to ensure compliance with brand guidelines
Develop and execute social media content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the blog regularly in accordance to social media strategies, and track and report analytics
Update website content, graphics, and announcements on a regular basis
Manage and update email lists
Develop, draft, and distribute press releases to area news media
Assist and manage pre-event planning, day-of event logistics and post-event responsibilities
Coordinate invitation lists and mailings, maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
Make follow-up calls to event invitees prior to event when necessary
Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence as needed
Process deposit of donations to bank of accounts as needed
Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed
Handle administrative details associated with the Development team as needed
Assist with staff support for Board meetings
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in training and experience
Excellent communication skills to include effective and persuasive writing and editing skills, and interpersonal relationship-building skills
A minimum of two years’ experience in annual giving for educational institutions or nonprofit organizations is required
Understanding of or an interest in social media marketing
Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher
Highly motivated, goal-oriented, self-started who is a strategic and creative thinker with the ability to work independently and in team setting
Mature and professional attitude; energetic, detail oriented
Demonstrates an ability to effectively plan, implement, manage and monitor multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
Experience with graphic design and/or MailChimp highly desired
Experience with direct marketing, with an emphasis on mail and email is highly desirable
Strong ability to organize and prioritize work
Resourceful and flexible
Positive and willing to perform tasks of all sizes and scopes; have an all hands on deck approach to work
High energy and passion for AOH’s mission is essential.
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience.
