The Department of Advancement with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Manager I – Strategic Relations Manager position.
The Communications Manager I – Strategic Relations Manager will manage projects and initiatives designed to advance the reputation, perceived value, and brand of ISU Extension and Outreach with stakeholders, decision makers, partners, clients, and citizens. This position will oversee several organizational communication channels; including: news releases, web content, social media, multi-media and events. In addition, this position will act as project manager for various statewide advancement initiatives. This position will lead social media content strategy for the organization, including developing an integrated social media content plan, sourcing and sharing content on a day-to-day basis, managing interaction with followers, training and consulting with faculty and staff, monitoring and analyzing activity, and identifying trends. The Strategic Relations Manager will supervise staff housed both off and on campus.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, client/customer relationship skills, the ability to work as part of a creative communications team, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will have the ability to work with a wide range of internal and external groups and be able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. The candidate will also possess the ability to present ideas and concepts. Outstanding organizational skills, ability to vision and strong attention to detail will also be needed in order be effective in this role.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or related field. Additional years of related experience. Project management certification. Experience with project management. Supervisory experience.
