The Web Development Manager assumes leadership for all development activities for University Advancement's websites, and web/mobile applications (currently web only). S/he has broad and deep knowledge of the strategies and tactics that support world-class digital marketing via the web and mobile. Along with proven development skills, s/he has specific knowledge of, and experience with web-based marketing tactics including SEO, user experience design, creating effective form pages and calls to action, and more. S/he is expected to be the internal thought leader, guiding internal clients in the most effective ways to communicate their messages and engage users via the web and mobile.
Act as a player/coach, coding websites and applications directly while also overseeing the work of contract resources as required
Become the in-house expert for the best use of Adobe Experience Manager, BC's campus-wide content management system
Consult with internal clients to help them maximize the effectiveness of their campaigns on the web
Take a lead role in optimizing department web assets for SEO, online advertising, social media, etc.
Seek out and implement new ways for increasing the level of engagement and conversion among alumni, parents, and donors
Work with teammates to develop connections via APIs to consolidate performance data across systems
Imagine and propose the development of web and mobile applications that could aid the effort to increase engagement with, and donations from alumni, parents, and donors
Continually research and—when appropriate—implement new, more effective and efficient ways to post and distribute content on all department websites, social media properties, and external news sources
Lead the technical effort for re-building a department-wide internal fundraising monitoring application
Create standards documents that provide information on how department websites and applications are built and maintained
Train and coach teammates on how to use Adobe Experience Manager to ensure that someone is always available to make changes when needed
Maintain strong relationships with technical resources throughout BC to share knowledge and understand how changes made campus-wide could affect the department's future technology plan

Front-end web development (e.g., HTML5, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap, AngularJS): 5+ years
