Advertised Summary Job Description: Columbia World Projects ("CWP") is an initiative intended to better connect Columbia University with the world at large where laws and policies are made, actions are taken, and norms and attitudes are shaped. CWP will facilitate the application of academic work in the context of a broader, global discussion to address fundamental challenges in our home city, around the nation, and across the globe.
The Digital Producer is responsible for growing the social media identity, defining and engaging digital audiences, enhancing publicity, marketing campaigns, and managing the production process of interactive web products that promote the mission of Columbia World Projects.
Under the supervision of the Director, Communications the Digital Producer will:
1.Create compelling public-facing content and provide digital services within CWP through multiple platforms. Draw attention to the many facets of CWPs work, encourage public support, participation and action, as well as ensure greater transparency and accountability.
2.Manage CWP's social media accounts (FB, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and website) with the goal of communicating the mission, fellowship program and individual projects. Identify ways to increase traffic on our social media channels, grow and keep our audience engaged.
3.Work closely with the communications team and other CWP colleagues to create, gather and execute content for our website, and social media accounts.
4.Create and edit audio and video content of CWP events for online distribution. Serve as the project manager for the development of website upgrades, enhancements, and redesigns.
5.Provide input into marketing and campaign strategies and plans, especially in the communication of web/digital best practices.
6.Shape CWP's content to reach different audiences across our various social media platforms. Think of creative ways to grow our audience and keep them engaged on our social platforms.
7.Determine the most strategic and optimized use of a limited paid digital marketing budget and manage digital marketing campaigns.
8.Identify and foster relationships with media outlets and producers that are covering topics relevant to the work of CWP. Capitalize on news stories, trends, or hashtags that are relevant to CWP's mission and work. Connect CWP to other bloggers that will in turn, continue to push CWP's content forward.
9.Additional duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required. Minimum two years related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to write and create engaging and error-free social media content that matches our tone and subject matter quickly and consistently for several audiences.
Avid user of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Vine, YouTube, Vimeo, and Snapchat, be engaged in the social media community, and eager to learn about new technologies and trends. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and MS Office are required.
