Undergraduate students choose to concentrate their studies in one of five schools with more than 539 course offerings and 36 academic programs. JOB SUMMARY The Cahill Graduate Assistant (GA) reports to the Associate Director of the Cahill Career Development Center. The GA provides overall unit support, assists with the cooperative education program, coordinates and conducts workshops and presentations, updates the unit’s website and assists with the Pathways Programs for ASB, SSHS and TAS.
DUTIES Unit Support • Serve as the first point of contact for all students, staff, faculty and employers in the Anisfield School of Business Career Center. • Assist Associate Director and Assistant Directors/Career Advisors to ensure students complete required Pathways modules. • Assist Unit with event planning, logistics, and implementation. • Represent Cahill at programs and campus wide committees with students, faculty, and staff as needed. • Serve on the Unit’s marketing team to promote activities and services to students.
Cooperative Education • Initiate and monitor the approval process for the cooperative education program using Handshake. • Contact supervisors, faculty and students as needed. • Ensure completion of process to issue registration instructions to students. • Provide feedback on Handshake process; serve on cooperative education program team. • Prepare reports for cooperative education program as needed.
Student Outreach • Create materials and facilitate presentations to create career awareness for first-year students; schedule and facilitate 40+ FYS presentations; prepare summary report (October/November). • Connect with student-run organizations, Athletics, Greek life and Residence Life, etc. to present workshops on various topics (Handshake, VMOCK, resumes, LinkedIn). • Assist with Career Center presentations for new student orientation. • Assist with outreach and tracking for undeclared students to ensure completion of Focus 2 assessment.
Website • Monitor and update the Career Center website; update images and slide show content. • Maintain web calendar of events.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in accredited graduate school program: counseling, higher education or career development preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), WordPress, Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience with website maintenance.
Ability to professionally interact with student, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and employer organizations
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Interest, enthusiasm and experience working with a diverse group of students.
PREFERRED Experience in career counseling, academic advising, student affairs or related area.
Availability for a 2 year commitment.
