Reporting to the Director of Web & Digital Communication Strategy, the Web and Digital Producer creates and maintains websites and other digital collateral to further Brownâ™s digital communication goals. The Web and Digital Producer works collaboratively to build and sustain Brown websites, including the Universityâ™s flagship website, Brown.edu.
The Web and Digital Producer partners with colleagues in the Office of University Communications (OUC) and from units across campus to implement solutions within the Universityâ™s web content management systems, mobile applications, email delivery tools, event system and other communication platforms. The Web and Digital Producer also consults with campus units on web accessibility, information architecture, image use, Google Analytics and content development. The Web and Digital Producer should be well-versed in the common needs of campus partners and champion web best practices to the University community.
The Web and Digital Producer will have expert-level knowledge of Drupal site-building, and will regularly post, update and maintain content in various web content management systems. The Web and Digital Producer also collaborates with web content editors working in decentralized campus units to build, enhance or maintain webpages, news items, bio pages, content types, views, menus and taxonomies. The Web and Digital Producer will play a critical role in supporting Brownâ™s web content management system by offering level two training and support for web content editors; the Web and Digital Producer is also responsible for responding to tickets escalated from the CIS help desk.
The Web and Digital Producer also supports digital infrastructure within OUC in collaboration with the client relations team by managing, maintaining and enhancing the officeâ™s enterprise project management software and management information system (MIS).
The Web and Digital Producer should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrate initiative, flexibility and a collaborative nature, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high quality products and services.
Bachelors degree and/or equivalent work experience is required
Two to four years of proven experience with enterprise web content management systems
Hands-on experience with HTML and CSS
Strong analytical, technical and project management skills
Working knowledge of web technologies and user experience conventions
Experience with Google Analytics, search engine optimization (SEO) and web/social media integration
Knowledge of web accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.0 AA and Section 508
Deep understanding of web communication and the role of web content in integrated communication campaigns
Understanding of web design/development concepts and processes
Customer support experience in a complex organization, such as a large corporation or university
Strong communications skills; demonstrated ability to communicate and present effectively
Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Experience with media and image editing software
