Pfeiffer University seeks a qualified candidate to fill the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications on the main campus in Misenheimer, NC. This is a 12-month, full-time position who will report to the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate will coordinate and administer all activities pertaining to 19 athletic programs and over 350 student-athletes to all interested constituents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Update and maintain the athletic department webpage (gofalconsports.com) with feature articles, game recaps, rosters, schedules, biographical information and any information to market Pfeiffer athletics and Pfeiffer University. Serve as the official statistician for all Pfeiffer home contests as well as coordinate with fellow Sports Information Directors to get accurate statistics for all road contests. Maintain Pfeiffer athletics social media pages with fresh and trending information about team/coach/player achievements. Social media platforms include: Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Oversee all live video broadcasts of home events (Youtube streaming) to interested parties who cannot attend the game but still have a vested interest. Coordinates all media affairs within the athletic department. Coordinates and manages photography services. Manages the use of University logos. Supervise department that includes student workers and student assistants to work athletic/home events and make sure all are serving the mission of Pfeiffer University and Pfeiffer Athletics. Prepare news releases for local newspapers, TV stations, and hometown news media of student athletes. Serve as in-game public address announcer when needed. Nominate student-athletes for awards ranging from: in-house awards, conference awards, state awards and national awards. Maintain and update all historical record book information for the 19 athletic programs and previous programs. Work in coordination with NCAA and USA South Athletic Conference rules and regulations in reporting all statistical information. Assist with Homecoming, Sports Hall of Fame, and Athletic Department Banquet preparations and day of activities for video, sound, and photography. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hire and supervise student workers and assistants. Tracking hours and submit timecards to payroll through Paycom.
Asst. AD/Athletic Communications works long days and has to have the ability to be on call should they be needed. Have to have the ability to work long days with little or no breaks and be able to perform at a high level. Need to be able to provide information for constituents including: athletes, parents, opponents, media, conference, NCAA, alumni, coaches, spectators, officials, fans, recruits and any other interested party.
Bachelors degree in sports management, business management, marketing, communications or other appropriate disciplines. 1-2 years of Sports Information experience is preferred. Also need a strong understanding of a large number of sports, knowledge of statistics of a wide number of sports, experience with StatCrew and Presto Sports, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, ability to write clearly and efficiently, ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and some holidays, need to be able to multi-task and work in a high-speed environment. Needs to be highly proficient with graphics, video editing and social media.
