C&EN BrandLab is the custom-content studio of the C&EN Media Group. It produces sponsored whitepapers, conference show dailies, advertorials, and native advertising on the behalf of advertisers.
The C&EN Media Group seeks a Project Associate, C&EN BrandLab who thrives in an extremely fast-paced setting and can own all of the planning and organizational details of C&EN BrandLab products. The Project Associate, C&EN BrandLab is a detail-oriented individual who has strong organizational skills and excels at teamwork and time management. S/he will be responsible for delivering products to clients on schedule and on budget at the high-level quality expected of C&EN BrandLab.
Reporting to the Senior Editor of C&EN BrandLab, the Project Associate, C&EN BrandLab will serve as the project manager for all C&EN BrandLab products, including show dailies, white papers, pre-meeting guides, and native advertising projects. The Project Associate, C&EN BrandLab will set up timelines for every project and work with clients, editors, writers, and members of the art and production teams for C&EN to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget. The Project Associate, C&EN BrandLab is expected to interface with clients; for this reason, the candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills. The individual will also contribute to proposals for clients.
The successful candidate is a highly motivated professional responsible for maximizing the value of C&EN’s audience to science marketers by delivering excellent media products and services. The ideal candidate should have a firm grasp of how good-quality content requires time and attention and has to be able to work across many teams to deliver high-caliber content to clients—on brand and on time. S/he is also a creative individual who can help identify new revenue-generating opportunities consistent with C&EN BrandLab operations.
Develop and implement comprehensive project timelines and deliverable schedules for native advertising pieces, ebooks, show dailies, pre-meeting guides and whitepapers by working with C&EN BrandLab staff, freelance writers and clients. Work with Executive Editor and Senior Editor of C&EN BrandLab and clients to define scope and content elements for individual projects. Proofread close-to-final pages to ensure content and art are placed accurately.
Lead client-facing project kickoff calls, regular status meetings with staff members, and client communications in an efficient and organized manner.
Collaborate with all relevant teams of C&EN (production, creative, marketing, social media, etc.) to ensure programs are delivered on time and on budget.
Work with the Senior Editor, C&EN BrandLab to create content for promotional assets and coordinate art from creative team. Monitor performance metrics (video/page views, engagement, event attendance, etc.) and compile reports as needed.
Work with the Senior Editor, C&EN BrandLab to create the monthly editorial calendar for the sales team.
Utilize research and data to articulate and support C&EN BrandLab’s case studies and marketing efforts.
Undergraduate degree in marketing, journalism or communications required. Experience in science writing is desirable. Work experience of 1-3 years in project management in related publishing, agency, digital marketing required. Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously. Experience in branded content or trade publications is a plus. Position requires familiarity and experience with the Microsoft Office suite and key social media platforms.
