Sr. Software Engineer, Digital & Computational Pathology
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
August 11, 2018
New York, New York
At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we're not only changing the way we treat cancer, but also the way the world thinks about it. By working together and pushing forward with innovation and discovery, we're driving excellence and improving outcomes.
For the 28th year, MSK has been named a top hospital for cancer by U.S. News & World Report. We are proud to be on Becker's Healthcare list as one of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare in 2018, as well as one of Glassdoor's Employees' Choice Best Place to Work for 2018. We're treating cancer, one patient at a time. Join us and make a difference every day.
Computational Pathology develops new machine learning approaches for medical image data analysis to help in the treatment of cancer patients. For our computational pathology group, we are looking for a full time Senior Machine Learner who leads the development, training and testing of superior AI models which are helpful for the clinical assessment and understanding of cancer. The massive amount of digital pathology image data at the MSKCC provide a novel opportunity within the field of cancer research for the planning and implementation of conventional and unconventional modeling with clinical relevance, such as (semi-)supervised, weakly supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods.
Senior Machine Learners employ statistical methodologies on high volumes of data to solve novel problems, build software and create actionable insights. Senior Machine Learners have a strong knowledge and background in machine learning and deep learning with experience in high performance computing (HPC). They work at a high level of complexity in relation to image data, deep learning, and/or computational pathology and know statistical programming languages including but not limited to: R, Python, & Matlab.
The Senior Machine Learner is independently motivated and takes initiative. They show an interest in the independent development and testing of hypotheses and are creative in finding conventional and unconventional solutions. They don't stop with the outcome of a model, but also make interpretations and connect results with business needs. They are savvy at tackling deeper questions and exploring new approaches. They show a track record (publications) on the typical machine learning conferences: MICCAI, CVPR, ICML, etc. They excel in working both independently and within a team, possessing a collaborative research mindset allowing them to work comfortably together with pathologists, AI researchers (same field and other fields), and computer scientists. They offer mentorship and guidance to others.
Sr. DS independently meets with hospital leadership, understand business needs, often vague and conceptual, translates business needs into analytics tasks and presents results aimed at satisfying those business needs.
Sr. DS trains and mentors junior staff and can delegate work.
Sr. DS assists leadership in the development of departmental strategy, particularly analytic strategy.
Master's Degree Quantitative Field 4-7 years Experience must directly relate to data science and knows a statistical programming languages including but not limited to R, Python, & Matlab. Experience in high performance computing (HPC). Keeps themselves up to date on the current state of the art in the field of ML, computational pathology, medical data analysis. Shows interest in medical data analysis.
Doctorate Quantitative Field Minimum 4 years experience in computer science, information science or related field. Strong knowledge in Machine learning, deep learning Shows a track record (publications) on the typical machine learning conferences: MICCAI, CVPR, ICML, or related. interest in medical data analysis and the independent development and testing of hypotheses.
