Computer Science Tenure-Track Positions
The Computer Science Department at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) invites applicants for several full-time, tenure track positions as Assistant Professors of Computer Science with the appointments beginning in August 2019. The department seeks candidates with expertise in all fields of computer science. CSUF values and is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse community. CSUF is located in Orange County 25 miles south of Downtown Los Angeles, 20 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. The city of Fullerton has a Mediterranean climate and a diverse population with many cultural attractions. CSUF has the largest student body out of the 23 California State University system. CSUF is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution and an Asian American and Pacific Islander Serving Institution. It ranks 1st in California and 2nd in the nation among the top colleges and universities awarding degrees to Hispanics. The Computer Science department offers a B.S. in computer science, a M.S. in computer science, and an online M.S. in software engineering. The online M.S. in software engineering is ranked #16 in the nation from the best online graduate engineering programs by the U.S. News and World Report. Position The successful candidate must demonstrate interest and ability to teach lower- division, upper-division, and graduate level courses in computer science. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level lecture and laboratory courses and specialty courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Interdisciplinary research collaborations within the department and college are encouraged. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the diversity and relevance of our curriculum by revising existing courses, proposing new courses, and teaching a variety of courses. In addition, faculty members regularly advise students, serve on academic committees, and contribute to Department and University governance. Faculty members are expected to be team players willing to contribute to the mission of the Computer Science Department, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the University.
The successful candidate is expected to maintain a rigorous, on-going commitment to funded research involving undergraduate and Master’s students. Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellent teaching, strong scholarly and creative activities which result in publication of high-quality refereed journal articles, and substantial service to the department, college, university, and professional community.
An earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field; ABD’s may apply but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the date of appointment.
Dedication to teaching computer science or closely related courses, evidenced by experience serving as an instructor, teaching assistant, or in some other educational role within the last five years.
Productivity as a researcher in computer science or closely related field, evidenced by publications in reputable peer-reviewed venues within the last three years.
Ability and willingness to promote undergraduate and graduate student success through research, mentorship, advising, co-curricular activities and other high impact practices.
Ability and willingness to interact effectively with a wide and culturally-diverse range of students and colleagues.
High potential to develop and pursue an independent externally funded research program involving undergraduate and Master’s students.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Rank & Salary The positions will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track). Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Moving expenses and start-up funds may be available. CSUF operates on a semester system that enables faculty to teach in January and/or during the summer for additional salary. Faculty may also apply for intramural grants to do research during those months.
