1. Collects and researches information from the School of Art community to write and edit a broad range of materials including press releases, briefs, emails, a weekly community newsletter, a monthly public newsletter, and a bi-weekly alumni notes newsletter. 2. Drafts materials that are suited for a general readership but more specifically an audience familiar to contemporary art reading and visual material. 3. Arranges for photographs, illustrations, and/or videos to accompany stories; writes captions and supplementary material as needed. 4. Is part of a network of relationships with Dean, Assistant Deans, faculty, administrators, alumni, and students to develop story ideas. 5. Maintains and organizes constituent lists, as well as photography assets and press release files. 6. Routes press/photo/general inquiry requests to the appropriate staff. 7. Coordinates work-study students working in the office of Communications and Technology. 8. Updates the School of Art website. 9. Monitors trending news topics in visual art and visual arts education.
Preferred Education: MA is preferred. Proficiency with technical communications tools, such as content management systems, email messaging, video shooting and editing, Photoshop and HTML editing is highly desirable. Experience with social media, digital journalism (e.g., video, audio blogging, etc.) Familiarity with the academic environment.
