Status: Part-time – 4 days per week - Average 28 hours per week
Location: Primary: Holy Family Business Office in Northbrook. Secondary: Holy Family Ministries Center in Chicago
Reports to: Development & Assistant Communications Director, with overarching responsibility to the Chief Development Officer & Marketing/Communications Director
Overview of Position
The position supports fund development, primarily through the management and expansion of social media opportunities, including increasing next-generation giving using social media and e-giving trends. A secondary role will be to support the efforts of the communications and events teams.
Manage the Facebook and Instagram social media sites with engaging posts and status updates to effectively engage the public
Assist in the execution of social media strategy, with the goal of increased next-generation donor engagement
Propose and execute additional strategies and outlets to continuously evolve the social media program and keep it fresh and appealing to next-generation donors and volunteers
Assess the effectiveness of all social media efforts via tracking, analyzing and presenting meaningful measurements
Assist the website task force team and Graphic Designer in their efforts to work with a web company to re-design the current website
Keep website content current, and keep the appearance of the site user-friendly, professional and attractive
Marketing and Communications
Create and manage the organizational Communications Calendar with oversight from senior staff
Work in tandem with our Graphic Designer to manage the organization's donor communications projects (print and electronic).
Assist with assessing the effectiveness of all communication media where applicable
Build relationships with media and press outlets to place stories about Holy Family Ministries in the news in conjunction with campaigns and/or special events
Assist with creating and updating other printed or e-materials as requested
Holy Family holds three major special events each year, along with several smaller events. All members of the Development Department are tasked with assisting with events as needed.
Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as communications, public relations or marketing.
At least 3 years (5 preferred) experience in a broad range of development, social media, and communications, and familiarity with graphic design
Demonstrated copy writing skills
Nonprofit fund development and marketing experience a plus
Working knowledge of software applications including Word, Excel, Constant Contact, Photoshop and Publisher
Excellent editorial eye for layout and design for print and web projects
Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail
Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills; ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
Strong judgment skills, including the ability to identify relevant and compelling information and use it to create effective courses of action
Skills to secure “News to Use” from program staff
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. (occasionally)
Local travel necessary with access to a vehicle on a daily basis during work hours
