This position will serve as the Eat Smart New York (ESNY) Nutrition Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Oswego County and will teach existing education programs and activities to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among limited resource families and individuals encompassing all age groups in various locations throughout Oswego County. The focus of programming will be on general nutrition, food preparation, food safety and food budgeting to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligible or SNAP recipients, in accordance with the Nutrition Program Area's Plan of Work to include, but not limited to: workshops, events or food demonstrations. Nutrition education may take place at a variety of locations including but not limited to: county agencies, libraries, schools and community agencies. This position works closely with Regional Nutrition Resource Educators, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego Human Ecology Team Leader and the Regional Project Manager, to assist in program evaluation, management and marketing. This position also assists the Social Marketing and Environmental Nutritionist in implementing the social marketing and environmental change initiative in collaboration with other nutritionists of the SNAP-Ed program in the North County Region. This position may provide data entry and management of participant data, requiring confidentiality.

Delivery - 80%
Utilize existing program materials and educational framework to teach a specified number of workshops, events and food demonstrations and educate a targeted number of adult and youth participants who are SNAP eligible or SNAP recipients.
Work to foster acceptance of the ESNY program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.
Utilizing already-established materials, serve as subject matter resource in the Nutrition area, and provide standard responses.
Under the direction and oversight of the Nutrition Association Team Leader, occasionally apply established subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans as identified to deliver educational programs. Delivery methods include, but are not limited to: workshops, events or food demonstrations.
Assist in providing established ESNY educational programs via mass media.
Implement existing ESNY programming to include, but not limited to: general nutrition, food preparation, food safety and food budgeting.
Implement already-established ESNY educational programing and activities in support of other Nutrition programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established Nutrition Program Area's Plan of Work.
Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Nutrition Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.
Evaluation - 5%
Implement program evaluation as designed.
Assist in the interaction with program participants to obtain evaluation data, to include: evaluating effectiveness of all ESNY programs.
Assist Nutrition Association Team Leader in the process of analyzing program data, and based on that analysis, make recommendations for improvements in program offerings.
Assist in the communication of evaluation findings to constituents as appropriate.
Management - 5%
Provide input to Nutrition Association Team Leader for program budget preparation.
Coordination/Operation - 5%
Compile, edit and format existing program resources and program materials.
Compile, tally and format evaluation data from program participants based on existing framework.
Submit program expense reports.
Organize and coordinate program activities related to ESNY Programming (i.e. food demonstrations, direct lessons to adults and youth, etc.).
Utilizing existing program materials and educational framework to implement the recruitment of the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the ESNY program. The target is 35-40 nutrition activities per month and act as an integral member to assist the team to reaching 75 direct participants per month.
Assist in utilizing effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.
Organize and coordinate activities, and events related to ESNY Programming (i.e. general nutrition, food preparation, food safety and food budgeting).
Maintain a high level of confidentiality of information and data collected.
Maintain record of class participants and complete reports as required by programs funders.
Coordinate with the Association Team Leader and Regional Project Manager to address clientele needs and to select program materials from available pre-designed resources.
Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
This position will exercise care when utilizing any Association owned property and/or resources while performing position responsibilities.

In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Association Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in required orientation programs; work with supervisor and work team staff to gain pertinent skills and information for specific on-job skills.
Attend relevant in-service education programs.
