Facilitate the administration of the Interdisciplinary International Affairs (INIA) major and play a crucial role in fostering Center for Transnational Justice (CTJ) and Marquette Democracy Project (MDP) activities and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the INIA Coordinator and MDP and CTJ directors with event planning and logistics coordination for visiting speakers including communications with speakers and relevant people and organizations on and off campus to make travel arraignments, room reservations and catering, and to publicize events to prospective audiences. 2. Work to build and maintain an INIA alumni network through newsletter, social media, and other relevant means. Recruit alumni participation in job and internship fairs and to otherwise support the INIA major and INIA students. 3. Maintain and circulate event and opportunity information on the INIA student email list, including working with campus collaborators to be aware of relevant events and insuring that internship and job. opportunities meet expected standards 4. Work with relevant campus student organizations to organize and publicize campus events and activities. 5. Build and maintain a list of INIA internship opportunities through reviewing incoming internship offers, working with faculty and staff in the College of Arts and Sciences office and elsewhere in the university and doing research as may be appropriate to identify potential local, national, and international internship placement sites. Work with INIA students to help place them in appropriate internships. 6. Maintain and update the INIA, MDP, and CTJ websites with event and news information. 7. Work with the INIA Coordinator to update the INIA section in the university bulletin, and the INIA major brochure. Work with staff in other university departments to identify course changes and possible new courses for the major. 8. Answer student questions regarding the Interdisciplinary Major in International Affairs. 9. Work with the Administrative Assistant in the Department of Political Science on purchasing and events. 10. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School degree.
Three-years related experience.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and Access.
