GOBO LEAD DEVELOPER , Media Laboratory-Center for Civic Media , to join a diverse team of researchers/technologists who address hard questions about online media by using a combination of social, computer, and data sciences. The Center for Civic Media's Gobo project was built to present alternatives that take a fresher look at technology decisions and possible underlying business models. Will plan, design, build, maintain, and run the Gobo social media aggregation and filtering platform; collaborate with other staff to clarify the project's technical vision and with other developers, designers, and system administrators to develop a technical roadmap to meet research needs and complete responsibilities; fix bugs, prioritize features, architect for scalability, and improve the web-based desktop and mobile user interfaces; build, maintain, and upgrade systems within existing codebase; write code to scale systems to handle rapidly growing data requirements; and communicate project status.
This is a one year position (not eligible for visa sponsorship) with the possibility of extension based on funding and course of research.
