Reporting to the President of the College, the Vice President of College Advancement provides leadership and the strategic direction for the College’s advancement enterprises in support of the college’s continuing development and growth. This position oversees those departments and functions that support College Advancement initiatives including Marketing and Publications, website and social media development, Communications and Public Relations, community relations, Development and Alumni Relations, charitable events management, Corporate and Foundation Relations, and Grants Management.
As Executive Director and Secretary of MCCC Foundation, this position is the chief liaison between the College and the Foundation Board, providing staffing for Board and Committee meetings, liaison with the President’s Office, and leadership and support for volunteer development and major gifts fundraising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead the Division of College Advancement and align its activities with institutional needs both current and projected. Establish goals, objectives, strategies and the assessment of outcomes for all advancement actions. Lead staff and professional development within the Division.
• Lead the development effort; in particular, establish fundraising goals and plans for annual and major gift campaigns, corporate and foundation relations, and grants management.
• Oversee and advance alumni relations, community relations, and the management of MCCC Foundation scholarships. Participate and support efforts of other collegiate divisions, in particular the development of innovative partnerships, articulation and University Center partnerships, and support for programmatic initiatives.
• Lead the Marketing and Publications effort; in particular oversee the planning, implementation, and assessment of marketing and advertising campaigns, publications, and website and social media outreach. Maximize the value of marketing and advertising expenditures.
• Coordinate efforts with other collegiate divisions, and support and monitor institutional marketing in enrollment, retention and completion, academic affairs, student services, and community outreach.
• Lead the Communications and Public Relations effort; in particular develop strategies and tactics to enhance effective communication within the College and with outside communities including prospective students and parents, governing bodies, other non-profit organizations, and business and industry. Expand outreach and recognition through publications, earned media, social media, broadcast, and the use of photos and video. Develop and continually enhance relations with news organizations and commercial and public media.
• Serve as chief liaison to the Foundation Board and committees; advise and coordinate efforts in support of the college’s institutional goals. Maximize the collective work of MCCC Foundation in both traditional activities and innovative programs. Provide effective staffing for Foundation Board and committee meetings and for volunteers organizing the Foundation’s signature events and one-time fundraising or cultivation events. Provide support through Annual Gift campaigns, major gift solicitations, solicitations of event sponsorships, alumni relations and events management, and scholarship management.
• Lead College advocacy and resource development through education and communication with government entities, foundations and corporate stakeholders. Develop, cultivate and maintain key relationships between the college, its alumni, and the community at large, communicating the mission of the college and encouraging support within the community for the college’s programs and long-term goals. Serve as a College and Foundation resource and liaison for people, offices, organizations, and activities in Mercer County and, more broadly, in the State.
• Direct the research, implementation, and assessment of best practices in all areas of administration, revenue generation, and budget control encompassed by this position. Oversee the design and implementation of systems created to track, manage and account for all revenue generating efforts of the division, including charitable gifts, grants, and event revenue.

Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of five years of successful leadership experience in college advocacy and institutional advancement with direct fundraising experience; proven track record in donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; experience in managing marketing, publications, communications or public relations; experience with grant acquisition, alumni activities or scholarship management; excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills in a diverse complex environment; a thorough understanding of the importance of innovative practice and results-driven planning, execution, and assessment aligned with community college mission and goals.
Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred or 7 years of executive experience in the field of advancement.
