The Leadership Gift Officer is a member of the frontline fundraising team for The Webb Schools and Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology. They will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and closing, and stewarding a portfolio of actively managed major gift prospects with the aim of securing both outright and deferred leadership gifts. It is expected the Leadership Gift Officer will initiate face-to-face meetings that move donor prospects to the next step in the solicitation cycle and will document all activity in the donor database. The Leadership Gift Officer will also make positive contributions to the advancement department goals, assist with school-wide events, and assist with The Webb Fund, including the solicitation of annual Webb Fund gifts from his/her prospects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cultivate and solicit leadership gifts for The Webb Schools and the Alf Museum and from an assigned portfolio of at least 120 actively managed prospects as well as unassigned parents, alumni, and friends.
Lead annual and targeted fundraising initiatives for the Alf Museum and The Webb Schools including leadership gifts, grants, annual unrestricted gifts, and event sponsorships.
Conduct and report on a minimum of 120 face-to-face meetings per year.
Provide leadership and support to volunteer leaders (class agents, reunion chairs, alumni council members, trustees) of The Webb Schools and the Alf Museum related to fundraising efforts.
Work with advancement staff to establish and monitor long-term strategic goals related to fund development.
In partnership with advancement staff, create and sustain donor stewardship goals for all actively managed prospects.
Contribute to general museum and school communications, including the writing, editing and producing of content for WEBB magazine, the websites, and social media pages.
Assist in the coordination of outreach events for the public as well as alumni and parents of The Webb Schools.
Frequent domestic travel required
Evening and weekend work required
Maintain working knowledge of museum and school news
Document and track all donor activity/proposals in development information system – Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Three to five years of development experience;
B.A. required, M.A. preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Track record of collaboration with development volunteers, trustees, and fundraising staff
Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally
Ability to work well under pressure and be responsive to deadlines
Demonstrated experience with Raiser’s Edge donor management software, Excel and Word
Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to manage a budget
Excellent aptitude for working with people in a team environment, including collegiality, confidence, and a sense of humor
Meticulous attention to detail
A valid California driver license will be required. A criminal background check is required and must be successfully completed before employment can begin.
