Responsible to the Director of Communication and serves as the primary communications and media relations contact for the Academic Health Sciences Center; assists with other university media relations activities, publications and special events; advises ETSU President and other administrators on communication issues; provides crisis response for the institution; leads editorial efforts for annual reports and other major publications for the Academic Health Sciences Center; writes remarks for the Vice President for Health Affairs and other health science administrators as needed; provides support for the Division of University Relations; provides after-hours assistance to the news media and ETSU administration as needed; manages primary social media for the Academic Health Sciences Center account and generates content for other university social media platforms; writes and posts press releases to the ETSU homepage and shares all releases on social media as deemed appropriate; pitches stories to regional and national media as appropriate; provides public relations educational information and presentations to university faculty/staff and students as requested; helps coordinate video and photo assignments with university faculty/staff; supports marketing efforts of individual health sciences colleges, departments and programs; works closely with the Vice President for Health Affairs; and performs other related duties as assigned.
